LUKE SHEA
Original line -- A team of ballerinas battle a team of cloggers to win a dance competition.
Updated Line – Four young ballerinas start a down-town dance-off with a team of elderly cloggers.
Four young ballerinas leave a down-town dance studio after an evening of rehearsal, still clad in pink leotards and tutus. They convey a general air of superiority, noses held high as they glide down the street. They pass a community center with a sign in the window, advertising “Thursday Night Clogging Classes! Seniors Free!” The ballerinas peer in through the broad window to see a group of four old women clogging away. The ballerinas laugh, and begin to mime clogging mockingly in the street. One of the cloggers slams the door open and literally dances a circle around the lead ballerina, stops, and stares at her with a sparkle in her eye. The ballerina accepts the challenge, and executes a graceful ballet move in response. The other three cloggers step in behind the first clogger, and perform a swift, rhythmic, set of moves with their feet, eyes held steadily on the ballerinas the whole time. The four ballerinas respond, dancing together, throwing each other in the air, and ending the move by winding a strip of gauzy cloth around the four old cloggers. The dance-off evolves into a brawl, which is won by the elderly cloggers kicking the ballerinas into unconsciousness with their clogging shoes.
The sun is setting over an urban scene. An old woman, dressed in a purple muumuu and carrying a matching purse and cane, steps off a bus and hobbles down the street. Her necklace of large pearls bounces heavily around her neck, catching the eye of a group of thugs. The old woman notices the thugs following her, and ducks down an alley to escape. However, her exit is cut off at the other end of the alley by another thug, who pulls out a knife and begins walking towards the woman menacingly. Just then, the moon shines out from behind a cloud, and the woman’s eyes go wide. Suddenly, she transforms into a giant bear, and clobbers the oncoming thug with her little purse, still clutched in her ham-sized paw. She turns and growls ferociously at the remaining thugs behind her, and impales one with her rubber-tipped cane, pinning him to the wall. With she picks up the last two thugs and pummels them in various ways. Finally, having defeated them, she picks up her purse, removes her cane from the ribcage of her fallen foe, and walks quietly away, shrinking back into her old-lady form as the moon recedes behind a cloud.
