Alright, team-folk. Here's what I'm thinking.
Right now, the racoons, the bear, and the dancers seem like the best options to me. They've got lots of action and lots of potential for comedy, both of which are strong things to work with in animation. I think the suicide one could work, if we were VERY CAREFUL, but, honestly, I'm afraid to try. I don't know if I could successfully walk the line between edgy/dark humor and tastelessness that would be required in this case. I think it can be done, but I don't know if this project is the place for it. Catherine, I think you should keep this card tucked away inside your sleeve to use at a later date, when you have more control over the production. It's a doozy of an idea, and I think it could work out really well for you.
The diner sort of falls in a similar category. I think it's good, but I don't know if it's right for this project. It might be a little too big, and a little too laid-back. Part of my reservations about this story is that, at the moment, it has no need to be animated. It's a story you could go out and shoot with live actors tomorrow, if you wanted. I think we should be aiming for something a little more exaggerated, something with funky character design and a little action.
So there you have it. The contents of my noggin have been spilled. I, personally, would like to pitch the Racoons, the Bear, and the Dancers. I'd also love to see some alternate takes on the raccoons and dancers, if anyone's got 'em. I think both are heavily gag-based, so we'll have to work out some of the specific details visually, or at least in person. But some sort of frame or explanation of character motivations. My dancer thing, specifically, is kind of weak. They just... Start a fight for no reason. Any help there would be nice.
